Transportation Sales Agent

Lone Wolf Freight Systems, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates interested in commissioned freight sales. The position allows you to work remotely from anywhere in the United States (including the main office in Youngstown, OH if preferred), however, looking for agents in the Youngstown, OH, and Pittsburgh, PA areas that have a good understanding of these markets. Potential candidates should have experience in freight sales, logistics operations, shipping and receiving, business management, and/or communications.

Job Description:

  • Research, contact, and develop potential accounts and new carrier relations
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with future customers through service and communication
  • Solicit freight from new and existing customers in order to boost volume and revenue
  • Analyzes business trends and keep up-to-date on current market conditions to maintain competitive pricing
  • Identify and develop new markets to create a competitive sales advantage
  • Develop and make sales presentations
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with customers
  • Through electronic means, post information on available trucks and freight for specified regions

Qualifications:

  • Must have a great phone presence and interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
  • 1+ years of sales experience
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Business Software- Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must be proficient in using internet and email
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills
  • Customer and/or carrier following is definitely an advantage
  • Must be willing and able to work in a fast paced environment; ability to work under pressure while maintaining composure is necessary
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong cold calling, networking, and business development skills

Owner-Operator Opportunities

Long Haul Driver

Lone Wolf Freight Systems, Inc. is seeking over-the-road, Owner-Operator interested in long haul runs based out of the Youngstown and Cleveland, OH areas as well as the Chicago, IL area.

The qualified long haul O/O must have current CDL with two (2) years flatbed driving experience hauling steel product and a clean driving record.

Short Haul Driver

Lone Wolf Freight Systems, Inc. is seeking owner/operators interested in short haul runs based out of the Youngstown, OH and Chicago, IL areas. The qualified short haul O/O must have current CDL with two (2) years flatbed driving experience hauling steel product, a clean driving record and can choose a local run consisting of a maximum of 150 mile radius or a maximum of 300 mile radius.

Internship Opportunities

Position Summary:

Lone Wolf Freight Systems, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Services Intern looking to gain experience in business management, logistics operations, as well as sales for a minimum of 10-12 weeks. We are headquartered in Youngstown, OH with offices in Cleveland, OH as well as Chicago, IL. This position will offer you hands-on, extensive learning opportunities in the logistics industry with the potential for future, permanent employment.

Through our internship program, we will expose you to multiple facets of the logistics and transportation industry, such as, building cross-industry carrier and business relationships, transportation information systems, sales and negotiation techniques, and distribution management. This internship is ideal for someone interested in a career in Transportation Services, Business Management and Operations, Supply Chain Management, and Sales.

You will be exposed to:

  • Freight Sales
  • Financial Management & Accounts Receivable
  • Logistics and Carrier Management
  • Transport Economics from a Third Party Perspective
  • Distribution Patterns and Tracking
  • Logistics Information Systems


Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate at a Junior or Senior level (preferably individuals pursuing a degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Communications, Sales, or related field)
  • Command of English language in order to communicate effectively internally with coworkers as well as externally with customers and carriers
  • Strong communication (interpersonal, written, and verbal) and negotiation skills
  • Previous transportation experiences is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to set and accomplish goals by working independently
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via phone with confidence
  • Problem solving and time management skills are essential
  • Must exhibit exceptional organizational and follow-up skills
  • Customer service skills and the ability to positively manage customer concerns is essential
  • Must be able to participate in daily operations functions
  • Must be proficient in using MS Office, Word, and Office as well as the Internet
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Adequate understanding of, and skills relating to mathematics/statistics and reporting/presentations
  • Other necessary skills include, detail oriented, sense of urgency, accuracy, and punctuality
  • Willingness to share ideas, questions, or concerns without hesitation
  • Attitude should boast enthusiasm


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Clerical and administrative tasks
  • Provide support within the office to manage the phone, fax, and other communication traffic
  • Dispatch freight and trucks daily
  • Provide assistance to insure that shipment cycle is completed
         • Determining pick-up #s and scheduling appointment times
         • Confirm pick-ups and deliveries
  • Filling out trip dispatch sheets
  • Set-up new carriers
  • Scan carrier and customer information
  • Call on past dues
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor
